COMMUNITY BASED DRUG TREATMENT PROGRAM
The Community Based Drug Treatment Program for Youth in Elgin County is a voluntary program designed for youth 12-17 years old who are involved with, or at risk of becoming involved with, the criminal justice system or who have experienced negative life circumstances, due to their drug use. The Addiction Counsellors provide drug education, individual and group counselling as well as assist youth with different coping mechanisms to use for cravings/triggers. The Counsellors also provide opportunities for youth to become involved in their community (ie. volunteering, finding employment, recreational activities, etc.). The key features of the program is the 24/7 on call crisis support provided by the Addiction Counsellors, as well as, the outreach services for youth, especially those living in rural communities.
