Salvation Army Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Response

International Day of Prayer for Human Trafficking

The Salvation Army is deeply committed to responding to modern slavery and human trafficking (MSHT). We have a theological and historical mandate and we believe prayer is the foundation and a unique way of responding to a world free from exploitation.

Every year, the fourth Sunday in September is set aside as the International Day of Prayer for Human Trafficking. It provides an important focal point for prayer to support people experiencing and who experienced trafficking and those working with survivors. This is a day for the Salvation Army and friends around the world to lift their voices and corporately cry out for justice and freedom.

Salvation Army Correctional and Justice Services London and Area is part of the overall Canada and Bermuda Territorial fight against modern slavery and human trafficking. We strive to work towards the Territorial Strategy which includes:

SouthWest Ontario Modern Slavery Human Trafficking Committee (SW ONT MSHT)

The SW ONT MSHT committee is a volunteer-led community-based group focusing on “Prevention through Education and Awareness”.  Under the Salvation Army CJS umbrella, the committee meets monthly to plan educational opportunities, public speaking presentations, fundraising awareness events, and partnering with area agencies. Post-Secondary students provide a valuable academic lens and are encouraged to apply for student placement on the committee. Professionals in related agencies and support services are also invited to contribute their expertise as guests or to apply for membership.
